Dynamic (Compression & Eq)

Dynamic compression is useful to compress loud signals from clipping and it made the signal become louder and aggressive such as drums . however it removes the natural feels of the signal. for instance, applying compression on a softer vocal will reduce the dynamic feel of the vocal.

Over compressed can result in signal become distorted.

Parallel compression which is known as the New York Compression is achieved by mixing one heavily compressed signal with the original uncompressed signal. this technique is used for the purpose of the dynamic range reduction.

in this case the soft signal will not be compressed and still audible. and it will be compressed when it pass the threshold. the goal for the parallel compression is to make signal become fatter and aggressive specially for drums.
